Monaghan GAA 2025 Awards Night
On Saturday night last, the Monaghan GAA Annual Awards 2025 took place in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan.
A massive congratulations to all our Monaghan GAA 2025 award winners and to those who received county retirement presentations on the night:

2026 Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna Cup
Monaghan continued their strong run in the Dr. McKenna Cup with an exciting 1-15 to 2-10 semi-final victory over Tyrone on Wednesday evening last in Inniskeen.
This result saw Monaghan finish top of Section B and qualify for the McKenna Cup Final, which took place on Saturday last against Donegal in Omagh.
While it ended in disappointment with a 2-17 to 0-11 defeat, well done to the team and management on reaching the final and producing a very impressive run throughout the competition.
Division 1 National Football League – Round 1
Monaghan v Armagh – Sunday 25th January
Intercounty football moves up another level this weekend as the National Football League gets underway following the McKenna Cup.
Monaghan will compete in Division 1 this year after gaining promotion last season and winning the Division 2 League Final. The top tier includes Armagh, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Mayo and Roscommon.

Health & Wellbeing
Scotstown GAA will continue its Healthy Club Project throughout 2026, supporting the holistic health of our members and wider community.
During the past year, activities included:
- Charity fun walk on St. Brigid’s weekend
- Daffodil planting in Kilmore for National Daffodil Day
- GAA for All initiative during May and June
- Post Blessing of the Graves refreshments in August
- Return of card nights
- Launch of Make Your Céilí this winter
In September, the club was officially awarded Gold Status under the Healthy Club Recognition Programme for 2025.
Couch to 5km
Well done to everyone who braved the wet conditions and took part in Week 2 of the Gaelic for Mothers & Others Couch to 5km challenge.
It was great to see such a strong turnout. If you missed it, don’t worry — it’s not too late to join, and everyone is welcome again next Sunday.

Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge 2026
The Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge returns for its 7th year, bringing clubs and communities together for one of Ireland’s largest walking initiatives.
- Starts: 7th January 2026
- Duration: 5 weeks
- Finish: 11th February 2026
- Target: 4,000km combined distance
Any club reaching 4,000km by the finish date will be entered into a draw to win a share of €30,000 funding.

Card Playing Night – Winter 2025/26
Card playing nights return this winter.
Everyone is welcome to attend this Friday 23rd January at 8:00pm in the Scotstown complex.
All ages are encouraged, especially young people who wish to learn the game of 45. Experienced players will be present on the night to help and guide.
A fun night guaranteed — let’s not allow our traditional card games to fade away.
