Allianz Division 1 National Football League Roinn 1
We’re not long into 2024 and the Intercounty football action rises up a gear following the Dr. McKenna Cup competition with the opening fixtures of the National Football League this weekend. Monaghan retained their position in Division 1 and are the same league as Derry, Dublin, Mayo, Galway, Tyrone, Kerry and Roscommon. Monaghan are playing Dublin away in Croke Park, on Saturday 27th January at 7:30pm. All the best to our Blues on the County panel, and the rest of the Monaghan team, and the management. You can get your tickets at McMahon’s Centra Scotstown. No ticket sales at the ground. The full Monaghan fixture list is as follows. Lidl Ladies Division 2 National Football League Roinn 1 Result: Kildare 1-6 Monaghan 0-5
Hard luck to the County Monaghan Ladies team in their 1-6 to 0-5 defeat against Kildare away last Sunday. Well done to Éabha Sherry who scored a point on her Monaghan senior debut. We have 7 of our Blues on the panel this year, Casey Treanor, Megan Boylan, Eabha Sherry, Hannah Sherlock, Celine Nally, Katie McCaffery and Katie Sherlock. The County Ladies next play Westmeath at home this Sunday 28th January at 2pm. We wish them all the best.

As Kieran Hughes steps back from Intercounty Football we would like to acknowledge his tremendous, outstanding and exemplary performances, football and career with Monaghan GAA which saw 2 Ulster Championship medals, Division 2 and Division 3 medals, 2 All Ireland Semi Finals and an immense amount of top level intercounty games from his debut in 2009 till now which has been such a glory age of prosperity for Monaghan football. Kieran has played an influential role during this period for Monaghan with beautiful creative football, amazing scores and dedication that has no doubt inspired fans and future players.

This year, after round 3 we are allowing players to resubmit predictions for the remaining rounds 4 to 7. This can be done easily online and a reminder will be sent to you for it.
Entries must be in by Friday January 26th. We also have manual copies for people to fill in who do not have online access. Please ask any committee member for a copy, and there are sheets available in the local shops and pubs.

Presentation Nights – Weekend of 9th February
We are 2 presentations nights for 2023 on the weekend of 9th February. On Friday 9th February we are having our Juvenile Presentation night in the Complex. On Saturday 10th February we are having our adult Presentation night, also in the Complex. Please see our social platforms for more details and ticket info for the adult presentation night.
Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €15,000!!
Thanks to everyone involved in our online lotto draw for a €14,800 jackpot on Wednesday 24th January. Please see our Social Media platforms for more details of the results.
In the January 17th draw there was no Jackpot winner. Numbers drawn on the night were 1, 9, 22, 29. There was 1 Match 3 Winner, Niamh Sinéad Maguire. We had 3 Lucky Dip winners, Michelle McCarey, Brendan McKenna, and Chloe McPhillips who win €20 each. Congratulations to all our winners! The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. There are 4 numbers to choose from a range of 1 to 31. Match the 4 numbers to win the Jackpot of €15,000. If no jackpot winner €200 is rolled over to the following week. Also if there is no jackpot winner there will be lucky dips. Next draw is Wednesday January 31st at 8:30pm.
Ciste Draw
The January Ciste draw will take place on Sunday night, January 28th at 10:00pm, in the Social Club. You can purchase your Ciste tickets in our local shops. There are tickets, envelopes and collection boxes in each of these shops; McMahon Centra, Scotstown; McAloons Knockatallon; XL Ballinode & Killylough. You can also purchase your Ciste tickets using the Scotstown Clubforce website and clicking on ‘buy event tickets’ link. First prize €1,000 and 5 prizes of €100 must be won. In total €18,000 in prize money is won every year!

The Club Shop is next open on Friday 2nd February from 7m to 8pm.
Social Club opening hours and rota
The Social Club is open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9pm. Bar Rota: Gerard McKenna and Niall McKenna.

Health and Wellbeing
Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve.
As we entered the winter months we renewed the Make a Ceili initiative which was launched recently. This month saw the start of the Operation Transformation walk and the Scotstown Ladies hosted a Women’s Health talk.
RTE Operation Transformation 2024 – Ireland Lights Up Walk and Blood Pressure Check
We have registered with the Transformation 2024 initiative again this year. It commenced last Wednesday 10th January from 7pm. Many thanks to everyone involved. There will be health check again with blood pressure checks available on Wednesday evening. Feel free to join into the walk at any stage of the weekly event. This initiative involves Scotstown GAA Health and Well-being joining up with Ireland Lights Up 2024 in partnership with RTE Operation Transformation and encourages everyone young and old to get Ireland safely walking. We host this initiative at the Kilmore walking track at evening times, every Wednesday for 6 weeks. This is part of our Silver Healthy Club.
Card Playing night – Friday night 26th January
Following up on the successful card nights this winter, we are inviting everyone to come along and play Cards in the Scotstown complex this Friday 26th January at 8:00pm especially young people who want to learn the game of 45, there will be card players there on the night to guide and help, fun night ahead don’t let our traditional card games become a thing of the past. This is part of our Silver Healthy Club.

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others
Gaelic For Mothers & others outdoor training has ended for the year and training will be indoors from now on. All welcome to come along. As there is no competition for the group there is no pressure to attend every week. You can join in at any stage and come when it suits you. You need to be over 25 and living in the parish. Why not come all and give it a go!!
