Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €7,000!!!

The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. Membership 2021 – 25% Discount – Plyers Deadline Approaching
It is important that Juveniles are registered as soon as possible, as players will not be insured until membership is paid and the deadline is fast approaching.
In light of the Covid 19 Pandemic and its continuing impact on our community and activities we have given a 25% reduction in fees to all members as reflected in this year’s prices. Family discounts will still apply also with €10 being deducted for multiple registrations from the same family (Must be processed all at once).
A parent must register with anyone under the age of 18, therefore you will be required to include an "Adult non-playing" to the basket.
If children are registered without parent being added or if at least 1 Parent/Guardian (GDPR contact) isn't included with a juvenile registration, then we will issue a refund and ask you to register again. Please arrange your membership on our Clubforce Platform, which is linked on our Social Media platforms.
Also please note everyone must register before they can play.

Dermot Foley’s Head and Beard Shave fundraising initiative
Well done to our Physiotherapist Dermot Foley in his "Dermot's Head and Beard Shave" fundraising initiative for a worthy cause, the Irish Cancer Society. Dermot says that he's "Gonna shave off my lovely locks and beard for Irish Cancer Society because Cancer touches us all. Garda Vetting and Safeguarding
GAA vetting services are available to any person over 16 yrs. of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children or vulnerable adults. A parental consent form (NVB Parent/Guardian Consent Form) must be completed, for applicants between 16 and 18 yrs. of age. Please contact Jill or Paudie with any queries.
Levels of Fitness during pre-training phase
We encourage all our players getting out and getting active for young people and attain some level of fitness prior to the resumption of our training.
GAA National Club Draw
The annual GAA National Club Draw was postponed and will take place Friday 4th June 2021 we are involved this year in the draw both nationally and at our own local level. There are many different fabulous prizes nationally including Cars, Concert tickets, Travel vouchers, Shopping vouchers, All Ireland packages & More!! Tickets are just €10 and all the funds go directly to Scotstown GAA.

Latest Covid-19 Restrictions Update for April
A limited number of restrictions have been eased during the government’s revision of Level 5 Covid-19 guidelines. If you have received the second dose of the vaccine more than 2 weeks ago, you can meet with other fully vaccinated people from 1 other household indoors without wearing masks or staying 2 metres apart. If you have received the second dose, you have to wait 2 weeks until you can meet other fully vaccinated people indoors. From last Monday 12th April, in-school teaching has fully returned; You can now meet 1 other household outside but not in your garden or theirs; and You can travel within your county or within 20km of your home if crossing county boundaries. From 19 April; GAA: Training for and playing of National Governing Body sanctioned and organised adult intercounty National Gaelic Games Leagues not including under 20 or minor competitions. Please see our social media platform with more details on what the new updated restrictions easing from 26th April including sport related. Please see the reminder on specific restrictions regarding current GAA activities in the final section of the club notes below. As of now, all club games at all levels and ages are still suspended indefinitely. The Kilmore walking track remains open. Please note that our GAA indoor facilities including dressing rooms, club shop, social club, gyms etc. will remained CLOSED until further notice. This is in accordance with the GAA's Covid Advisory Group's guidelines. Whenever we are given the guidelines to enable us to give definitive dates of resumption of any of our activities and facilities, we will update you here and on our Clubforce app. Please adhere to government Level 5 and HSE guidelines, on washing your hands, keeping your distance and abide by the current restrictions. Thanks for your patience and understanding. The club is still here to help out in our community.
GAA 2021 Fixture Plans
The GAA have announced their fixture plans for 2021 with the new GAA inter-county season will get underway with the first round of the Allianz National Football League on May 15th and 16th. The Association's planned 27 week inter-county programme has been reduced to 20 weeks, which means that there will be no qualifiers in this year's All-Ireland Senior Football Championships, with the provincial football competitions getting underway in late June. The Championship draws will take place later this month and more information on the league fixtures will be available in the next week.
Club championships are due to get underway in September and there's a commitment to completing last year's minor and under-20 Championships once the government give the green-light to resume those competitions. The provincial club championships are due to run into 2022 with the All-Ireland Club finals likely to be staged next February.
The Allianz Football League will from the weekend of May 15/16 to the weekend of June 19/20 with Divisions split into North and South as originally planned in December.
Four teams will be in each group based on geography with three Round Robin games per team. The top two in each divisional group will advance to the league semi-finals followed by a league final. The bottom two in each divisional group will play relegation semi-finals with the two losers of those matches relegated. The bottom teams in Division 4 will play a Shield semi-final and final. League finals will only be played on June 19/20 if counties involved are not playing in the championship the following weekend. If they are, then joint winners will be declared for Division 1 and joint winners and promotion for Divisions 2, 3, and 4.
The 2021 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship will be played as a straight knock-out competition from the provincial series forward. There will be no Qualifiers and New York and London will not be involved.

We would like to reiterate and to continue our message that we are here to help, particularly as we are still in Level 5. In light of the ongoing concerns and impacts to our daily lives over Covid-19, Scotstown GAA would like to reassure those in our community that we are here to help. The health and wellbeing of our community is very important at this time and we can phone and have a chat with those that are alone or vulnerable check if they need anything, groceries, medicines, a friendly voice and reassuring chat can help. If you are living away from the parish and have relatives that may need a hand getting in medicines or shopping or simply checking in with them, contact any committee member. Please private message on the Scotstown GAA Facebook page with any other suggestions on how we can help over the next while. We will keep you updated on our Facebook page and we are and will look out for each other. There are Tydavnet Parish Community Health and Wellbeing leaflet of crucial local numbers and contact information for people in our community. These leaflets are going out through the local shops, churches etc. Many thanks to all those involved. As well as our physical health, our emotional wellbeing and mental health is also highly important. In these current circumstances, it is important to remember that the community supports and services are still operating. Your GP is your first point of contact in relation to both physical and mental health needs. If you, or someone you know is in crisis, contact your GP or Doc on Call on 1850 777 911, or if you are really concerned go to the Emergency Department in Cavan General Hospital. Phone a Ceili
With high Level restrictions ongoing, physically visiting people is not allowed. But we can still make contact with those we care about and / or are cocooning, living alone or vulnerable. They would really appreciate a phone call, letter or card just to say "I'm thinking about you, keep safe and stay strong." So please, Phone a Ceili, write a Letter, send a Card and keep in touch over the winter months and we are always here to help in anyway. We ask all our committee members and players to phone a ceili twice a week. If you would like a committee member or player to phone you, please contact our Chairman Shane on 086 836 7997.
April Ciste Draw
The April Ciste draw will take place on Saturday Night April 24th at 9:45pm, appropriately for the current restrictions. You can purchase your Ciste tickets in our local shops. There are tickets, envelopes and collection boxes in each of these shops; McAloons Knockatallon; McMahon Centra, Scotstown; McCarvilles Ballinode & Killylough. You can also purchase your Ciste tickets using the Scotstown Clubforce website and clicking on ‘buy event tickets’ link. First prize €1,000 and 5 prizes of €100 must be won. In total €18,000 in prize money is won every year!

Keep Well Campaign
The Government Plan for Living with COVID-19: Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021 highlighted the important role that individual and community resilience will play in contributing to our ongoing response to COVID-19.
The Keep Well campaign is aimed at showing people of all ages how we can mind our own physical and mental health and wellbeing by adding healthy and helpful habits to our daily and weekly routines. It will provide guidelines,
information, and tips on how we can make a plan to do things that will help us keep well through the coming months.

Return to training updates
With government restrictions ongoing GAA’s return to play has still not been fully finalised. Under Level 5 of the plan for living with Covid-19 individual training only is permitted for GAA clubs. However from April 26th, non-contact underage training in pods of 15 will be permitted and that full contact Inter-County training at adult level only can re-commence from April 19th. These are hugely welcome developments and allow us finally to begin planning on-field activity for the remainder of 2021. However, it should also be noted that these dates are conditional and will very much depend on what happens in terms of the overall COVID-19 picture in the coming weeks. For that reason, it is more important than ever that no collective training sessions are held between now and the Government indicated return dates. Breaches in this context will not only be dealt with under the GAA Rules but would likely put the broader plan to return to activity in serious jeopardy. As you will appreciate, the GAA will need to receive further clarity on aspects of what was announced last week before finalising the plans for a return to training and ultimately games. They also need to finalise competition structures and dates for the up-coming inter-county season, as well as ensuring advice is provided for all clubs in relation to how they can safely recommence underage activity. As it stands currently, neither adult or underage teams may train collectively, club games are not permitted, and GAA club grounds must remain closed. Dressing rooms, showers and all other indoor training facilities should remain closed for club activities. Club Gyms must remain closed until further notice. No indoor meetings can be held. All officer Training must be delivered online. Outdoor coaching education courses are not permitted. No organised indoor gatherings can take place under the current restrictions. No outdoor gatherings on GAA property are permitted with the only exception of walkways staying open for use by the community with social distancing in place. Please adhere to these guidelines. Health and Wellbeing Scotstown GAA will continue in 2026 with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. During last year we held several wellbeing events including a charity fun / walk which took place on St. Brigid’s weekend, daffodil planting in Kilmore to commemorate National Daffodil day for the Irish Cancer Society, and the GAA for All initiative which took place during May and June. On the first weekend of August we had the post Blessing of the Graves refreshments event in the complex. In September the club has been officially awarded the prestigious Gold status as part of the Healthy Club Recognition programme for 2025 and we recently had the return of the card nights. Make Your Ceili returns this winter with the recent launch. Couch to 5km! Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge 2026 The Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge is back for the 7th year for one of Ireland’s biggest walking challenges, bringing clubs and communities together. This result saw Monaghan finish top of Section B and qualify for the McKenna Cup Final, which took place on Saturday last against Donegal in Omagh. Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge 2026 The Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Steps Challenge returns for its 7th year , bringing clubs and communities together for one of Ireland’s largest walking initiatives. Starts: 7th January 2026 Duration: 5 weeks Finish: 11th February 2026 Target: 4,000km combined distance Any club reaching 4,000km by the finish date will be entered into a draw to win a share of €30,000 funding . An Bhoth GAA Club Notes 13/01/2026 2026 Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna Cup Monaghan continued their winning start to 2026 with a 1-17 to 3-8 win against Fermanagh on Sunday last in Castleblayney and finished top of Section B in the McKenna Cup and have qualified for the Semi Final. This Wednesday 14th January Monaghan are playing Tyrone at home in Inniskeen in the Semi Final of the McKenna Cup at 7:30pm. Please note that there are no matchday sales at the venue. You can purchase your tickets for the games in McMahons Centra Scotstown. We wish the team and management the very best. The Scotstown players on the panel are having a well deserved break until the National League commences at the end of the month. Our Condolences It is with deep sadness that we learnt of the passing of Eddie McKenna (Hughie). We would like to offer our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to his son Dara (Emer) and daughter Grainne (Barry Mc Namee); his much-loved grandchildren, Sheenagh, Caolán, Aoife, Aoibheann, Niall and Darren; his brothers, sisters, bothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, his nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, neighbours and all who knew and loved him. Eddie was a lifelong supporter of our club and a distinguished community person, who was actively involved in the current redevelopment of St. Mary’s Hall Urbleshanny, where he was chairman of the committee. Last month, Eddie was safely taxiing patrons from the Scotstown complex after the Ulster final night celebrations, a recent example of the immense community work Eddie devoted, and he will be greatly missed by everyone in the community and beyond. Health and Wellbeing Scotstown GAA will continue in 2026 with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. During last year we held several wellbeing events including a charity fun / walk which took place on St. Brigid’s weekend, daffodil planting in Kilmore to commemorate National Daffodil day for the Irish Cancer Society, and the GAA for All initiative which took place during May and June. On the first weekend of August we had the post Blessing of the Graves refreshments event in the complex. In September the club has been officially awarded the prestigious Gold status as part of the Healthy Club Recognition programme for 2025 and we recently had the return of the card nights.
