Senior Men
Our Senior Men have once again done what they had to do to bring them to another
County Final. After a nail biting conclusion to the first semi final, the replay was
always going to be a tough challenge. Heavy rain just before the game on Saturday
was giving one a sense of dejavu - but our lads dug deep and took the spoils on the
day. Ryan O’Toole was first on the scoreboard with a tidy point to settle the nerves,
and Ballybay were quick to respond going in front by 2 points to our 1. Conor
McCarthy wasn’t long slipping one between the posts before Michael McCarville
belted a clinker in the back of the net. Ballybay kept fighting though and the scores
were level at 12 mins in before Kieran Hughes and Conor McCarthy took us 2 points
ahead. In the 22 nd Min, Scotstown were awarded a Penalty after a tackle on
McCarthy and Shane Carey stood up to the challenge. The ball just crept under the
goalie and over the line – taking us 5 points ahead. Further points from Shane
Carey and Kieran Hughes saw us 2-06 to 0-07 points up going in at half time.
Conor McCarthy showed again to get the first point of the 2 nd half before Ballybay
slotted one in the back of the net taking the deficit to only 3 points. Scores from
Shane Carey and Francis Maguire saw us up again by 0-06 before a great pass from
Jack McDevitt set Conor McCarthy up for our 3 rd goal. Ballybay came back to within
4 when a Free from Rory Beggan took the deficit to 0-05. Another point from Shane
Carey before the final whistle took the Final Score to Scotstown 3-12, Ballybay 1-12.
